Saalbach Hinterglemm Bars and Restaurants

Eating and drinking on the slopes

Whilst on the slopes there are over 40 mountain restaurants, from Self service through to a la Carte, taken on a sunny terrace, or a cosy corner sat round the "Stamm Tisch". You are never far from the next restaurant where you can eat, drink or simply relax in a deckchair and catch your breath.

Try the Pfefferalm, the oldest  mountain restaurant. Great food in the Altescmiede and Maisalm. Cheap drinks  in the Thurneralm and Bergeralm. Horses at the Westerstadl and Goats at the Goasstall!

Around the town

Whatever your taste in food, Hinterglemm Saalbach and Leogang have something for everyone. Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, steaks, Burgers and kebabs (until 4 in the morning!) you name it and it's probably there. If it's fine dining you're after then you will not be disappointed.

Although the range of styles could easily match a small town, as with most places in Austria, Saalbach has a strong sense of tradition and local specialities can be found in numerous local restaurants. Filling mountain meals such as tiroler groestl and kasnocken (locally known as  käsesplätze), to the more well known Wiener snitzels and of course, the famous Austrian pastries, apfel strudel, kairsersmarrn and sachertorte to name but a few.

Local bars

As with the restaurants, there is a bar for everybody in the glemmtal valley.  For a relaxing drink after a hard day on the mountain why not try the piano bar in the Alpen hotel in the centre of Saalbach or the quaint and cosy Steiners pub. For a taste of the traditional pop in to the schnapsbrennerei and test the locally distilled spirits.

For those looking to party on the mountain then you’re also in the right place! The lively après ski starts early on in the afternoon and carries on untill the break of dawn.  Famous bars (or should that be infamous?) such as Hinterhag and Goasstall start the party early on as everyone makes their way down to the town. Bars such as Bauer’s Schi-Alm and Spitzbub line the streets at the bottom of the lifts with outside heating, regular live music and the best party atmosphere in the alps. When the night draws in and it’s time to move inside (or if you’re just on your way out) Why not stop in Alibi bar to play the "Nail game", watch the football in Jack-in,  go bowling in Bobbys or enjoy a smoke-free drink in Underbar.

If it’s a nightclub you’re looking for there’s Arena and the Scandinavian Castello’s in Saalbach or The London Pub in the centre of Hinterglemm.
