Saalbach Apres Ski & Night Life

It's one of the reasons why people return time after time. Hot chocolate with rum, Gluhwein or a good Austrian Beer, accompanied by a live band or the "Euro Trash" the DJ blares out! This is something that only the Austrians can get away with!

What will the Ski Hits be for 2010?

Saalbach Hinterglemm is renowned party territory. The après-ski starts early, and for a while happens simultaneously with the skiing. So while you are moving towards the end of the circuit, you might find that when you drop in to a bar for a quick drink skiers and snowboarders are more involved in après-ski rather than ski.

At the bottom of the nursery slope in Saalbach you'll find Bauer's Schialm, a popular venue with indoor and outdoor bars and tables. Just over the road there's Spitzbub, run by Chris and Mike, the "masters of Apres". Zum Turn, an old jail next to the church and cemetery, with a small, classy but rather expensive bar. Castello's, at the bottom of the main street below the Saalbacherhof Hotel has a live band playing daily and later becomes more of a nightclub. The legendary Hinterhag Alm, above Saalbach's nursery slopes, is always packed early on, with a live band, dancing on tables. The Goasstall, at the bottom of the west slopes in central Hinterglemm, is obsessed with goats - real and plastic ones which "flash" the audience sporadically. In spite of (or perhaps because of) this, it's a very popular après ski haunt, they've even created their own apres songs and videos. If you prefer the idea of a witch stripping to goats flashing, the Hexenhäusl is a cheap bar next to the slopes with a good atmosphere.
